Daddy’s are great too…

I know I talk on this blog a lot about what Ellie and I are doing…about being a stay at home mama…about beauty products…sometimes about Reggie (the dog) but I don’t usually talk too much about Ellie’s daddy.  I think it might be true when people say that you fall somehow even deeper in love with your husband when you see them holding your baby for the first time. My heart couldn’t have been more filled with love that first moment Joe saw Ellie, that first moment he held her.

Uggg…I can’t get over how tiny she used to be!!!!

This man was not only the best daddy right away…but he also was the best husband.  I have no idea how I would have made it thru those first few months without him.  Truth be told…I don’t think I had full fledge post partum depression, but I definitely had moments of it (if that is even possible) I was a wreck…so overwhelmed, so full of hormonal emotions, so nervous because she was so tiny, I was sooooo tired…

but this man…

I cannot say enough wonderful things about how much he pulled me thru.  I cannot even begin to tell you what a great daddy he is, but if you know him at all this wouldn’t come as a surprise.  He is so hands on, makes her smile and laugh daily…he worries about her in the sweetest moments and backs me up on all my crazy reading and research about how we should do things with her.  He is my rock in this crazy thing called parenthood.

He figures out a way to make ends meet so that miss Ellie gets to have her mommy with her all day, every day…so that I get to stay at home and enjoy every single moment with her.  For that alone, I cannot even begin to put into words how thankful I am.

This journey has just begun and I am already more in love with Ellie’s daddy then the day I married him…I cannot wait to see where this ride takes us.

(sorry for the cheese ball post…but when you feel something you gotta express it)

And so, in my true nature, I will now give you pictures (yes more pictures)…pictures of Ellie with the best daddy this mama could ever ask for!

Could these pictures be any sweeter?!?!?! I obviously take a million daily, and since I am the one behind the camera usually…a lot of those pics happen to be of Ellie and her daddy so sorry for the over sharing…I just love all of those moments so much I couldn’t narrow them down.

I know my job as a mama is pretty darn important, and stressful at times…but so, so, so very rewarding…but being a daddy, an amazing daddy is hard work too and I just thought I should acknowledge that today too.

Beauty Wednesday is Back…Beee-att-ches

Sorry I got a little carried away with the title of this post…it’s just that I have missed blogging about beauty things. I blame myself, not enough time or motivation the last couple of weeks due to a sick baby…AGAIN!

This poor child, I swear…for not going to daycare she has been pretty darn sick the last couple of months. Where in the crap is she catching these germs???

This last time I waited and waited and finally took her back to the doctor when her cough changed from something I wasn’t too concerned with to something that sounded pretty terrible…Call it mommy instinct but I am darn glad I took her.  Poor little gal has the early stages of pneumonia!!!

You wouldn’t know it from the way she is acting…fun with doctor table paper, as always.

And don’t mind the fact that her socks are pulled up like she is an old lady with knee highs on…whatever works!  At any rate she had to have a chest x-ray….which was the worst part of the entire process, if your child has had one you know what I am talking about…so SAD!!! She was put on antibiotics which I am not thrilled about but you do what you gotta do I guess. Hopefully she is on the mend!!!!

Butta…back to beauty Wednesday…sorry I got caught up in baby stories ahhh-gain.

Because I have had little time for myself lately I have resorted to my trusty, super quick, eye look.  Sometime soon I will break down my entire routine on the daily but for now let’s focus on eyes…after all, they are the window to the soul (sorry I had to say it)

Back in the days of endless time I used to love figuring out what eye shadow I would wear for the day…did I want a smoky look, navy, browns, purples…a lot of liner, a little liner…the options were endless really.  Now a days I throw on the quickest thing I have found that makes me look the most awake and put together. And it goes as follows:

1// I put on my entire “face” including under eye concealer...VERY important to give you the look we are going for, the “I am so refreshed and awake and could run around the world I have so much energy” look. You can read about what concealer I am obsessed with Here.

2// Next I apply MAC Cosmetics Paint Pot in the color Painterly. I pretty much use this as an eye shadow base.  When I wear a ton of other shadow this stuff makes it stay on ALL DAY…but for days like most when I just want my eye lid to have a clean finished look I throw this on all over from lash line to brow using my finger.

3//  Now I take a fluffy crease brush and apply MAC cosmetics eye shadow color in Haux.  It is the perfect maroon/brown neutral to create a hint of a crease on your lid without being too dramatic.

phoneoct2 003

Like I said I just take a fluffy brush and apply this just in the crease of my eyelid…like, where the eye ball starts to go back into your head (sorry for the gross description, ha) A lot of times I actually do this with my eye open so I can tell where the crease really is. You do this to create a shadow/contour so your eye looks brighter and more open.

phoneoct2 007

(ps, i obviously took this picture after I had already put my liner on…but that is the next step…I just didn’t think to take pictures today until I had completed the look and had to go back and “fake” apply everything..real smooth I know)

4// Apply the liner:  I sometimes use a powder shadow, but lately I have been using this one from Mally in the color Starlight.  To apply eyeliner using this technique you have to make sure it is one that is a little more soft and creamy.  I love this one because it is just that, but it is also waterproof so it stays put! I start by applying the liner along my top lash line…it does not have to be perfect because you will fix it later. I do this on both eyes, and if I am getting fancy I will also line the inner rim of my upper lash line to really define those lashes and make them appear thick.

Next I take a brush that is sort of thick and dense and angled…like the above one by bare escentuals and I use it to blend and wing out (slightly) the liner.

phoneoct2 005

Doing this makes that line look less harsh, it lets you push that liner down into the lashes wish can sometimes be hard to do with just the pencil.  Using a brush really gives you more control and if you use a product that is creamy it makes it super easy to smooth out and create that winged look that really opens up the eye area.

5//  I finish by curling my lashes and applying several coats of mascara and wha-la…my eyes look WAAAAYYY better then if I didn’t take those 5 minutes to do this.

phoneoct2 009

phoneoct2 008

There you have it…and looking at this I realize I really should moisturize better under by eyes, but one thing at a time…

I also fill in my brows which makes a difference too, but that info is for another beauty Wednesday.

Hope this helps give you some ideas and let’s you know you don’t have to spend a million hours perfecting your eye makeup to look done and awake.  I swear if you do this a few times you will get it down, and in no time it will take you only several minutes.

Good luck!!!

She is on the move…and super cute

It seemed to happen over night…I know most parents say this, but I cannot believe how true it is.  One day Ellie was just army crawling around unable to really do much else (97% in weight will do that to ya, ha) and the next day…BAM, she is pulling herself up, fake crawling (not really moving, just staying in place) on her hands and knees…she figured out how to sit up from a laying position, and we had to move her crib mattress down for fear she might swan dive peeking over the edge!

Sorry for the creepy monitor photo…

phoneoct1 183

How did this all happen in a matter of days!?!?!?!?!

I,of course took a ba-zillion pictures this weekend of her doing all these new things, and it just so happened that one of those days was trick or treat at my parents house so she looked EXTRA cute dressed up trying to crawl.

This toy has proven to be amazing at getting her interested in pulling herself up…and the tutu!!!!

cameraoct3 026

I had to include this picture not because she is doing anything new…but, because she is totally cheesing at herself in the mirror and I think it is beyond cute! And her socks say “wicked cute” which she is…just saying.

cameraoct3 032

Pushing off to get on her knees…and again I die every time I see her in these tutu pants. I told my husband I kind of wanted to sew tulle on every pair of pants she owns because I think it is so darn cute.  He was not as interested in that plan…we shall see.

cameraoct3 037

She was a little confused as to why we sat her in mulch…but there are actually pumpkins behind her that she ended up blocking.  But how cute is that pumpkin trick or treat bag from Land’s End my mom got her?!?! Can’t wait to fill that bad boy up with candy next year…for her, obviously for her.

cameraoct3 047

cameraoct3 061

And did I mention how squirmy she is lately…trying to escape the hands of Nana!

cameraoct3 059

cameraoct3 082

The costume made it a little tricky for her to get around, which also made it that much cuter!!!

cameraoct3 083

I will miss these meaty little legs when she gets older :(

phoneoct1 172

She is just getting so big so quick and I am just trying to soak it all in moment by moment.  Soon she will probably be sassing me and wanting to wear makeup (although truth be told the makeup thing I am excited for) but for now I am trying to relish her being little! '

Happy Monday!!!

New look, old name

Let’s start with the obvious…I have an amazing new blog design by the very talented Kelsey.

(you can find her little etsy shop Here, I highly recommend her!)

I love, love, love it and I hope you do too.

For awhile now I have felt like my blog needed a little makeover.  I went back and forth on if I should change the name. I could feel myself wanting to take the blog in another direction but I was resisting.  I have always found it so much more authentic when I write about  my life…what I am going thru, what I like, what I find irritating, etc, etc, etc.  This blog started out when I was 29 1/2 years old and I was bar crawling, going to random events…I was single, childless…I was having the time of my life really!!! And so I wrote about that…the adventures of a single gal living in the big city of Columbus trying to find herself. (I realize 29 might be a tad old to be finding myself, but hey…better late then never I guess)

You followed me as I went on themed bar crawls, as I wrote about why I don’t eat meat, as I went on dates, went to parties, fought the urge to just be a single cat lady…you read along as I spilled my guts about divorce, being single at 30, as I wrote my heart out about wanting a family…you followed along as I met my now husband, as I got married, as we bought a house-sold a house-bought another house…as we got a dog, as I struggled my big old uncomfortable butt thru pregnancy.  You read along as Ellie was born, you watched as she has grown over the months and as I have loved/struggled with this new role of being a mama.

And that brings us to now.  I have been fighting myself silently in the battle of what to write about on here.  There is part of me that misses those bar crawls and themed parties, and I fear my life now could be boring…if you loved reading about my single lady adventures then you might not really care about my mommy adventures.

But…I can’t write if I am not being true to myself…I can’t write if I am not being authentic. After much thought and an inner battle….(that was fought fearlessly by drinking many glasses of wine, duh)… I have given in.

I am a stay at home mom…I am a wife…this is my life, and I love it.

Maybe my writings about how the hell you juggle putting makeup on daily, having your daughter look cute, have the dishes done, make sure your kid is eating the finest food (sarcasm), remain in a loving marriage….AWWWW even writing all of this is overwhelming. Maybe I will pull new readers in that can relate to my life NOW…and I hope my old readers will still want to follow along on my new adventures because even though my life has changed, my sense of humor and writing style has not.  I still try and write like I am talking to my sister…I am still sarcastic and try to find the randomness in most situations.

If reading about my life has gotten boring, be happy you are bored…I wish I was bored most days, I miss being bored…but seriously, I hope you find my life and my writing real, because I have a hard time sugar coating things here.  I hope you find my blog to be a place to escape for a second, find a funny story…look at pictures of a super cute chubby baby, maybe get a few beauty tips, laugh a little…and then return to your life.

So while I have updated the look of my blog, I am still the same old me…just with a baby and a husband and different things happening in my life.  While I felt like at 30 years old the name “fearless and laughing” fit what I was going thru, I had no idea it would SERIOUSLY apply to this stage of my life even more.  Being a mom I have to be fearless and I sure as crap need to laugh…so the name has stayed.

Fearless and Laughing…the adventures of my life, as told by me!

I hope you continue to enjoy (or at least read even if you don’t love what I am saying!!)

Weekend Recap…Pumpkin Patch

Hey guys, sorry for my brief disappearance from the blog. I have been soooo preoccupied with getting my little business venture up and running (Ellie Lou Boutique), and raising little Ellie that I have not figured out how to do it all.  I mean who really has…but I love blogging, I love being a mom and I love making headbands so I gotta figure this out.

I am so excited about Ellie Lou Boutique, but I will share all of the updates on that later this week…(I have a logo!!!!)

This past weekend was sort of a busy one for us.  We headed to Hilliard to visit Joe’s dad and step mom and we all went to a pumpkin patch.  I have been dying to get Ellie out and make some fall traditions/memories, and a pumpkin patch was high on my list.

We went to Kuhlweins Farm Market in Hilliard.

cameraoct2 081

They had a petting zoo, a little place you could ride ponies, bouncy houses…a fire pit to make s’mores.  The older kids loved all of that stuff and Ellie loved watching all of the kids. I wore my Ergo because it was so much easier then bringing the stroller and trying to get it thru the pumpkin patch…and there was a hay ride that took you to the pumpkins so a stroller would have been terrible.

cameraoct2 038

cameraoct2 041

cameraoct2 049

cameraoct2 047

I mean, does it get any cuter?!?!?!  While Ellie doesn’t mind being in the Ergo, she is a total nib…and has to know and be able to see what is going on around her at all times.  The Ergo restricted her from seeing everything so she did what babies do and arched her little back and whined until I took her out…gotta love babies.

cameraoct2 058

The hay ride took us to a corn maze…that then led to the pumpkin patch, and let me just say that corn maze was no joke!!! At one point I silently panicked wondering if there was some sort of backup in case we never found our way out.  Obviously it is meant for kids so I was being totally ridiculous, but that’s how my brain works…and I suppose it worse came to worse I could have just ran straight thru the corn and said screw the maze. I have issues, I know.

I mean look at the path to nowhere!!!

cameraoct2 063

Ellie and her pawpaw and mawmaw. (after barely making it out of the maze alive)

cameraoct2 066

At the pumpkin patch you each got to pick one pumpkin (included in the price of the hayride) and Ellie got to get a little pumpkin for free.  I seriously can’t remember if I have ever actually been to a pumpkin patch before and got to pick out my pumpkin. I am sure my mom is reading this and saying I have…I just can’t remember. Not that I had some un-fun and un-festive childhood, I just know we went to the store and picked out pumpkins. Mom…refresh my memory on this, thanks!

At any rate, it was fun and I will be for sure doing this again.

cameraoct2 080

I tried to get all creative and have Ellie pose with a bunch of pumpkins, but she had other plans and decided she needed to eat the hay she was sitting on.

It was a good time and the weather was perfect…chilly but not too cold, I LOVE FALL!!!

Hope you enjoyed the beautiful fall weather too and had a great weekend…and I hope we all have a great week ahead!!!
